World's Busiest Airport
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA) , the world’s busiest airport, serves as an important hub connecting cities throughout the U.S. and the world. The Airport's $6 billion-plus Capital Improvement Program (CIP), includes the new fifth runway and upcoming improvements like an energy-efficient car rental facility and 12-gate international terminal. The Airport is located 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta and is easily accessible by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION
Thirty shuttle services offer door-to-door and on-demand pickup service in the Atlanta metropolitan area and bordering states. The taxi-loading zone is just west of the South Terminal baggage claim area. The Airport also houses 11 rental car agencies with free shuttle service to and from the Airport. MARTA is located on the west end of the terminal between the North and South terminal baggage claim areas.
CONCESSIONS
There are about 227 concession outlets throughout the Airport, including 89 food and beverage outlets, 85 retail and convenience outlets and 55 staffed service outlets covering approximately 209,000 square feet.
EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE CENTER
The 24,000-square-foot, upscale Executive Conference Center at Hartsfield Jackson is located in the Airport Atrium for the convenience of business travelers. The facility houses 23 meeting rooms, video conference capabilities, computer workstations and catering in an aesthetically pleasing environment.
ECONOMIC IMPACT
Hartsfield-Jackson has a direct and indirect economic impact of more than $23.5 billion for the local and regional economy. The Airport is the largest employer in the state of Georgia with approximately 56,000 airline, ground transportation, concessionaire, security, federal government, City of Atlanta and Airport tenant employees.
